Research Data Storage Firmware Upgrades

Essential security and performance upgrades are to be applied to the central Research Data Storage system (sometimes known as Isilon). A period of maintenance will take place on 08:00 – 12:00 on 9th December.

Data stored on RDS is NOT at risk during this maintenance. However, connections to the storage system may be affected in the following ways:

— Login sessions and jobs running on the central HPC platforms (e.g., CSF) may pause but will resume once the maintenance has taken place. If using these platforms you may wish to check on your jobs after the maintenance period but no further action should be required.

— PCs (e.g., desktops, lab-equipment PCs) that map additional ‘network drives’ similar to: \\nasr.man.ac.uk\facrss$\snapped\replicated\myshare may need to remap the drive. Further instructions are available at: http://ri.itservices.manchester.ac.uk/rds/user-faq/using-storage/

Please note that this does not affect P-Drives or Shared Areas.  If you have any questions please let us know!
